Not familiar with this model, mine is an MF4 a considerably older machine and not mint example. However it it very well engineered and I would expect the one you are looking at to be of good quality, not sure if they are still UK made—maybe asked Meddings !

I did look on the internet and the LF2 looks good and seems to have a 2 speed motor, I wonder if this is on all LF2's if so it may cause a problem with a VFD — others will be along with more advice I'm sure.

The only other point is the lowest speed seems pretty high at 500rpm but if you can use a VFD this should help in this respect

          Just my thoughts John

Not found anything specific on the web yet except their web site.  The L2 model they sell now is prob different to the one i am looking at

cant see and speed control for the motor in the photos

year of manufacture in Jan 1996

            very similar to this Ebay

Any Meddings will be a good drill, so long as it has not been totally abused.

As JohnF says, the deciding factor may be whether it has a single speed or a two-speed 3-phase motor.

A single speed motor is relatively easy to convert to 230v three phase and run from a VFD, even if you have to dig out the star point of the motor.

The eBay link is single speed motor (see photo of the name plate – two speeds are given but only because of different power grid frequencies).

A two speed motor is very difficult to convert to lower voltage operation.

Looking at the photos cant see any switches/levers to charge motor speed

he said five speed obviously referring the the number of pulleys

I have bought the drill however I notice there is no rack and pinion for the table for machines this age.

Has anyone managed to convert to rack and pinion?
