Material options for coloured washers

I've been getting some great results making specialist tools in Titanium and would like to make some coloured washers so that interchangeable threaded tip sections can be easily identified by their colour. It would be great if I could find a 6mm or so bar material, that comes in red, blue, yellow and maybe green. I've looked for a long time to try to source coloured Delrin that can be turned and drilled on the lathe. Unfortunately the only stock colours seem to be black and white.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a strong machinable material that comes in a variety of colours and is suitable to be made in to compression washers? If so, where would you buy it from.

Is Corian available as bar stock suitable for lathe work? I had hoped that someone would make coloured Nylon which can be machined and won't split when compressed, just like Delrin.

You can buy the corian in squares from some of the pen turning suppliers, probably have suitable acrylic too.

Another option would be to turn a shallow groove just in from the edge of your tool tip, fill with paint and whan dry buff the outside which will leave the paint in the groove

I must be misunderstanding you some how as coloured bar Delrin is easily available.

I think that is the best option so far Roger, many thanks. It is only available in 20mm minimum, so would need to

cut it in to sections to get 6mm diameter pieces. Hopefully it might be worth emailing the seller to see if they've got it in smaller sizes.

Why not heat-colour your titanium?

Mainly durability Neil. I've noticed that heat induced colour tends to scratch easily. I would like the washers to be hard wearing so delrin type material seems ideal. I could use brass, but as I say, different colours would look brilliant and be functional for quick selection.

If I could home Anodise, Aluminium would probably work.

Titanium is easy enough to anodise, you just need a high voltage power supply.

Nylon and Delrin is easy enough to colour so I'd have thought someone would sell it.

Acrylic here, probably brittle though.

Looks like you will get more joy searching for Acetal instead of Delrin.
