Hello – I have bought myself a newly machined and largish live steam model that would benefeit from being dismantled and tarted up a bit. I can manage most of it except for the 8" diameter" Stuarty" type spoked flywheel which needs the OD and the sides of the tread skimming. I only have a small mini lathe which is bareley capable of a 3" dia job let alone 8". Can anyone advice. I am midway between Northampton and Bedford. ATB Stuart (PS – Paid for job of course!)

If you are thinking of visiting North Yorkshire I would happily skim it for you, I live near Thirsk. I imagine though you would prefer somewhere nearer to you, but the offer stands.

No disrespect, but rather than say where you don't visit wouldn't it make more sense to say where you are or at least give us a clue!

I doubt anyone here would want to steal your identity, but you don't have to put much detail into a profile and it would dramatically improve your chances of getting local help.

I must take care to read the whole post in future instead of just focussing on the technicalities.

I would offer to do the machining but I am in Cheshire sp probably too far, and I dont get down the M1 much these days.
