Lathe recommendations

Hi,

I'm just in the process of starting out and I'm looking at lathes to buy and really have no clue so I thought I would ask the experts for your recommendations.

I want to spend no more than £1000 and don't want to be upgarding in a year say so this needs to last me a while. I will be mainly using it for motorcycle components and some small modelling projects.

What lathes would you recommend both new and used?
