Can anyone help with information on a supplier of ignition coils, either 6 or 12v

        Thanks

        Dougie

Minimag will do a small coil and also a box of tricks so you can trip it with a Hall Effect sensor.

If you do go with the Galloway then the ignitor needs a low tension coil which can be obtained from an old strip light fitting.

The CDI units from S&S also get good reports, again these are Hall effect triggered

You can also build one with a small motorbike coil sourced from e-bay, these can also be made to make a buzz coil ignition if that is what the engine calls for.

Try your local motor cycle repair workshop. I got a small set of points and a coil with condenser attached for £25.

Hi Dougie, I purchased two off ebay, different sellers. The H.T. coils were 12v & used, but OK.

              Regards Bear..

Dougie, I believe there is a system used these days (I'v not come across it), that uses individual coils for each spark plugs, there is a bit about them on some other web site. Ian S C

High performance cars, especially racing cars, have been using on plug coils for some years. It saves the complication of a high-voltage distributor and is better for EMC.

The on plug coils do look totally out of place on a old hit and miss type engine, almost as bad as having a full size car coil on displayface 14

The on plug coil, would not need to be on the plug, it could be hiden, say in a dummy magneto. Ian S C
