          Hello Lynne,

As no-one else seems to want to help you, I'll have ago.

This is what I did: typed out as I did it!

Logon to the site under you normal id.

Click on “My Photos” from the menu in your “My Account” box.

Click on “Create a Photo Album”.

Give it a name, then click on “Create Album”.

On the screen that appears, click on the first “Browse”…

…and using the window that has opened, select a suitable photo.

Click on the photo – the window disappears, and the previous screen re-appears.

Now click on “Upload Photos”, and ….wait except that I forgot to select a photo with the jpg suffix.

So, having now selected the right suffix, click on “Upload Photos”, wait, then click on “Save Changes”.

So now I have a photo in my album titled “Specially for Lynne”.

          Back to the forum…

From the icons above, click on the camera, select your photo, and here is a photo of my beautiful little granddaughter.

          img_3929.jpg

          Hope that helps.

There is an easier way of transfering into your album. If you already have the photograph somewhere on your computer in a photography/camera file. I merely drag the required photo from that file as displayed into the "browse" box mentioned above, then click the same upload.

You may find that your photos are too big, I reduce mine to about 640 x 480, apart from anything else, the bigger ones take too long to load, I'm on dial up. Ian S C

There is a very good free utility for resizing images. It will resize single files or a whole group of files. You can download it from here.

                Les.

                  Hi There

I add width="320" to problem posts and this cures it.

                  regards David

Hello All. I have used 'load' in the wrong sense. I was'nt looking to load my pictures onto the forum, but look at those that had been put there by others, particularly those dealing with ML7 lathe overhaul. Sorry. regards Lynne

                        Hi Lynne

This has been discussed many times in the past about restoring a Myford, there are 2 chaps Ex Myford engineers who will do this for you and by all accounts and reports of what I have heard are superb. They do advertise in ME but if you do not take it please feel free to PM me and I will send you the details.

                        Bob

                          Hi Lynne

I'm a bit confused now – are you saying that you can't view any 'photos in threads on this forum? Can you, for instance, see Peter's picture of his delightful ( and, I suspect , if mine is anything to go by – high maintenance ) granddaughter in this thread?

                          Regards

                          Norman

Well now, since we are looking at something totally different to what I understood….

If, as Norman is asking, you can't see any photos at all, then this would suggest something not quite right with your computer system. Perhaps there is an add-on which isn't working correctly.

May I suggest that you post details of what you have, eg, I am using Windows XP (completely up to date), Mozilla Firefox version 18.0.2. Add-ons are Foxit Reader Plug-in for Mozilla 2.2.1.530 (which apparently has a vulnerability), Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.287 and Flashblock 1.5.15.1 which is disabled.

If we know what you are using, it is likely that someone here may have the same or similar equipment and can thus advise.

                            Regards,

                            Peter G. Shaw

ps. Norman, yes she is highish maintenance – loads of expensive mileage, overnight stays etc. But worth it – especially when she voluntarily comes & sits on your knee to look at some photos.

                              Well Peter

Make the most of it- my experience indicates that, ere long, she will, no doubt, be a bossy little miss who twists her Grandad and everyone else in the family around her little finger! ( still quite delightful however )

                              Regards

                              Norman

Hello All. Thanks for all your responses. Not understanding the system fully, it has not been easy to pick up the thread. Norman. Correct, I cannot see any photos attatched to any threads. Peter. I have XP which is updated automatically, so as far as I know it is fully current. My browser( hope that's the correct label) is Mozilla Firefox 18.0.2 and updates are installed automatically. I have Adobe in varios forms ie Flash player, Reader X and shockwave player, and I install all Adobe updates. I also have Java 6. Bob (Springbok) I have seen ex Myford employees advertising in Home w'shop, but if I go down the route of bed regrinds etc. I am going to finish up with a very expensive ' old lathe' so I am afraid that anything which needs to be done (within certain limits) will be done by me. Peter, Thanks for the post to Lynne with picture attached, may be soon I will be able to see it. Regards Lynne

                                  Lynne,

I suspect that this may be a Java related issue

I don't use Firefox, so cannot really assist

But; see here [and do follow the Homeland Security link]

Hopefully, others can check this out and advise you.

I suspect this may be because your browser does not know how to display the image?

Find an image on your PC and copy the location and image name into the address bar of your browser, as shown below?

                                    file:///C:/Users/Chris/Pictures/ThisIsAPicture.jpg

The image example is 'ThisIsAPicture.jpg' and the path on my PC is 'C:/Users/Chris/Pictures/'

The 'file:///' in front should be added automatically but you can add it yourself if not – this is to tell the browser this is a local file on your PC, not from the Internet?

                                    The location of the image of Peter's grandaughter is;

                                    http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/images/member_albums/45340/411714.jpg

(the http:// tells the browser that this is a location on the Internet, not your PC)

If you don't get anywhere let me know and I'll give you my phone number (I do this for a living)

                                    Best wishes

This is not surprising as on a scale of 1 to 10, between computor illiterate and literate I come in at about 2.
