Just been looking to order some copper rivets.

Phoned a company in Birmingham, local and can collect so ideal.

Ø1/16 x 3/8 – 100 off – £19.50 + £3.95 delivery if needed + VAT

Reeves price on there web site £4.27 + del inc.

Am i missing something ? guess you can get differing quality of copper but really !

Ask your local company how much for 200 and you may well get the same price if they operate a minimum spend

However, on this occasion they appear to be, by a factor of 5 or more. The OP's question, as I read it, is are the Reeves ones of similar quality? – or am I missing something?

Reeves are used to supplying them in small quantities, and have bagged and carded rivets ideal for those who just need a packet or two for a project.

They are probably set up with a small weighing machine that can accurately weigh the quantity in a few seconds and will have made loads of bags in one go for stock.

The other company will be used to supplying them by the kilo and £17 of the £19.50 is probably to cover the time of someone (who doesn't want to) counting them out by hand.

Most companies I deal with count by weight, my local fastener supplier get a box of bolts pour onto the scales until the number required and bag, I used to check but its that accurate I don't bother anymore.

Having stood and counted out rivits into 50s and 100s and poped them into bags while helping one of our ME suppliers on his stand at various exhibitions I doubt that most of our suppliers have anything as sophisticated as weighing scales

As you all say its a volume thing, i went direct to the manufacture. because they are local to me,

and yes they will deal but at a price.

I did e:mail them to ask but got a rather short reply.

Anyhow, plenty of other places to get them
