OK first off, why do you need to remove it ?
Is it because the lever has become sloppy ? If so then the fault lies in two screws that hold a plastic insert in the base of the start / stop lever and you don't need to remove the shaft.
Whatever fisrt thing is the tailstock end bracket needs removing. Its held by two imperial allen screws and 2 dowels.
The dowels are tapped 2BA so they can be extracted with a long screw over a spacer to allow the screw to pull the dowel clear.
The leadscrew is held by a Nyloc nut and has two sets of ball thrust bearings either side.
The feed shaft has an allen grub screw in the bracket end with a 3/8" ? ball bearing under it, again to act as a thrust.
Once this bracket is taken off the stop / start lever can be slid off after removing the screws that hold it to the apron.
If you need the whole bar out then the link to the stop / start switches under the lathe need to be disconnected, then it can be slid out.
The link is held onto the bar by a taper pin and it's easier to leave this in place and take the clevis pin out the vertical link.
