Band saw running off true

I have an old 4 1/2" metal cutting bandsaw which has suddenly started running off true.

I tried to cut a 1/2" square piece of mild steel and noticed that it had cut about 45degrees out of true, does anyone know why this has suddenly started to happen . The blade is tight and the guide rollers are as near to the cut as I can get them .

Try re-squaring the blade with a Engineers square sat on the base in between the vice jaws up against the saw blade & readjust the blade guides…

My own experience when this happens – it is time to replace the blade which has probably become blunt.

As Simon says this is usually down to the set having gone off one side of the blade so that the cut is biassed towards one side.

…but if it really "suddenly" started to happen then it may be that the blade guides have slipped and so George's approach is the right one?
