Anyone know what these are

I recently acquired a job lot of "good stuff" or "junk" as SWMBO refers to it. Amongst the various bits were these two odd small lathes. I can find no reference to the make, Blackman of Maidenhead on Tony Griffiths site. Can anyone identify them. The carriage is fixed to the bed with only the cross slide moveable. I assume they are some sort of second op machine.

They are rather lacking in options to be lathes. No lead screw or rack, no tailstock, no cross slide, etc.

Perhaps add-on parts for a big lathe or milling machine.

They may be for repetition work – set up and some one spends all day facing something off. Old fashioned cheap 2nd opp lathe.

Not sure, but I think these might be 'commutator lathes' for making electric motors.

 

EDIT;……Keith Blackman motors….notable makers of eletric motors listed in various locations including Colchester and Tottenham………Suppliers of motors and fans for boats….apparent supplier of 30HP motors for RN 'X craft' submarines during WWII…….

 

………..Maidenhead is on th Thames and has boat yards etc……

Thanks for the input chaps, I think Bob is closest. Probably a machine for a one action special purpose. I shall attempt to do further research when I get a minute. I suppose they may be of interest to someone as the basis of a project !!!
