Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Maisie series and secondhand drawings?

There is a construction booklet on Maisie, most probably available from TEE publishing or Camden books if they are still trading, also try WOB or ABE books etc.

South Cheshire MES have a (we think) complete Maisie and tender minus the boiler that is for sale from a deceased estate.

Hi Ian, if you want the original articles that were in ME, you may be able to get them from The Engineers Emporium but they span five volumes from 1935 to 1937, but all of them might cost more than the book. I don’t know if the Engineers Emporium will sell individual issues though.

              Regards Nick.

Ebay is the other option, you can pick up whole Volumes from £10. Drawings not really needed once you have the mags. Just scan in the pages from the article and print out what you need for the workshop.

Hi JasonB, there is a huge number of ME’s on e-bay, but the pre-war ones are becoming a lot rarer, I’ve had a quick look,  but very few are for the 1930’s, not even Tee publishing have any that early. I do have some of the volumes for Masie, but the articles are often mixed in with other writings on the same page. I’ve never read the book, but it might be a lot clearer than the magazines.

                  Regards Nick.

According to AI, Maisie was designed by that prolific model engineer LBSC (Martin Evans). Not quite accurate? Drawings available from Reeves and Kennions, but I wouldn’t build a boiler to the original design without talking to your boiler inspector. If it fearures things like fittings screwed directly into backhead it might not pass muster.

                      Greetings Martin,

LBSC was the pen name for Lillian Lawrence, who wrote for ME from about 1920 to 1966, Martin Evans (1) was a contributor and later the editor of ME, Martin Evans (2) was editor of ME from about 2015 to the amalgamation of MEW and ME last year.  There was also another editor, Laurie Lawrence from the early 2000s to further confuse the issue.

                      Regards

                      Brian B
