It’s a Viceroy, very similar to Boxford, some would say better. Good lathe if in good condition. See

        https://www.lathes.co.uk/viceroy/index.html

for further info. What it’s worth is very dependant on condition. If you’re in a hurry to get it away a dealer will take it, but at a significantly lower price than private sale

There’s one very similar on ebay now, buy it now price £900. Item 286867640575 . Three phase, which probably reduces price, but tidier looking

          Condolences.

The lathe pictured above looks to be a plain lathe, i.e. no screwcutting facility, so unfortunately not worth as much as Duncan suggests.

          Mark.

            Welcome!

Sorry to learn of your loss. You have a sad task.

It is a very useful machine. (With myriad uses)

To learn more about your Viceroy, go to the Lathes UK website.

It will probably give some history of the company and details of the model that you have (Ptobably centre height, tapers in Headstock and Tailstock, and possibly about the graduations on the handwheels and controls.

The more that you know about the machine, and any accessories with it, hopefully, the easier it will be sell it.

The local model engineering society could advertise it on their website, and someone could give you an estimate of its value.  Someone from there could help you look for any accessories, such as drills, Taps, Dies, Reamers, measuring equipment etc)

Once you have a sensible estimate, you could advertise it on the “Classilfied” part of this site; giving your approximate location(No more detaile than the town, initially), or possibly in the “free adverts” part if ME and MEW magazine.

Dealers will offer less than a private sale (They have overheads and neeed to make a living)

Hope that this is a little help

            Howard
