I have a chuck with a 1.5″ x 12tpi backplate. Just curious to know what ;athes have this size mandrel thread?
Andrew.
I think it could be from a Boxford, although which model I dont know, maybe AUD ? Others will give you the definitive info.
All (older) models of the Boxford are the same but are Whitworth while the mostly similar looking SouthBend are UNC. So a Boxford one screws into a SB nose but not visa versa.
Hello Mike,
The Boxford mandrel thread is certainly 1.5″ diameter, but is 8 tpi not the 12 tpi on the chuck backplate of this chuck.
Thanks,
