Yeah, I know it's functionally well regarded, and is held in affection by many who cut their teeth on it, but it's got to be a good candidate for king of the uglies.
I remember the Chipmaster in the school workshop in 1962, it was brand new (the other lathes, mainly Harrisons dated back to the beginning of the 20th C), it was amazing, it sure could produce swafe.1/2" wide, and red hot! think it had a 5hp motor. Ian S C
