Spotted this Workbench/Clamp in an Aldi email.

Might be of interest to some on here?

          Ingenious!

A use that springs to mind is as an auxiliary to a "Wokrmate"- type bench, for holding the other end of long lengths of material.

The original was designed by an Australian chap, they are sold as 'Triton Superjaws' I bought one a few years ago for about £80, they are fantastic, the movable jaw is reversible to hold very large items.

I have a welding bench top I made which is held in this device when I need to use it, and slides under the workbench when not needed.

It can squeeze things together with an impressive amount of force.

They do a couple of different versions.

            Highly recommended.

The auxiliary to my Workmate I use when I need to hold long lengths of material is another Workmate.

The Croc Lock link doesn't work from my computer in Thailand,

In fact Aldi UK cannot be accessed from my computer in Thailand.

However when I turn on the VPN I use for accessing UK TV I can suddenly see what I'm missing by living overseas.

I've obviously got too much time on my hands …

                  Hi Colin,

It is the same here in Norway, I can't access Aldi UK either.

I can't think of a metalwork use for it

Could be a godsend for the wood doods though

Dunno. Bit like a bodger's shaving horse but with a locking lever and a fore-and-aft clamp rather than up-and-down. Offhand I can't see meself in the queue for one.

No, the original was in use long before we started the export trade to Aus. Mick B1 has it. Wonder how long it will be before the pole lathe is "Reinvented?" Oh, sorry, Mifford have done this already.

                        Regards Ian.

Wish I could get Thai sunshine over the VPN?

I found that while my VPN wouldn´t access it from Europe, when I switched to Americas, it worked.

Price is to the right of the picture (in surprisingly small print) £99.99

Who made the original? Triton claim they did.

Ahh, sorry Michael not being a woodworker I didn't realise that was a thing, after looking at some photos, yes it would appear to be a very old design.

I still highly recommend the modern iterations.
