Am looking getting a remote control car to mess around with kids with when they are with me.

they have had these £20 ones from toyshops before and never seem to last.

        looking at spending 100-150 on.

and as can't just pop down to beatties anymore like i used to as kid was looking for reccomendations.

as to be off road type as got little track with bumps etc on it and plastic grass near scooter park where i take them.

No current experience but probably a Tamiya is a safe bet. Kits you can build up together but don't forget to budget for paint, radio gear, batteries and a (fast) charger.

I built a Schumacher for my daughter (yes, really, it wasn't for me, honest!) 20odd years ago but they look a bit expensive these days.

            Hello.

Might be worth looking at FTX, but go for brushless with a lipo battery they will last about 30 minutes.

I had a Tamiya XR311, pretty much the one that started it all. Two wheel drive and plastic torsion bar suspension! With an extra two nicads on the back seat it went like … off a shovel!

Have a look om ebay at the HSP brand cars , we picked 4 of the nitro buggies and they are still going strong , sure they're not a tamiya , kyosho or team associated but for the price of one of those you could buy 4 or 5 hsp buggies .

They do a brushless version as well -parts are readily available via ebay and cheap to buy , the only thing i didn't like was the radio but as i was used to using a spectrum unit for my race car – it is easy to pick a cheap radio to bits . The range of the radio wasn't spectacular but we were using rechargable batteries so the voltage was down a little and may have affected this butwe weregetting a 75 meters before the safety cut off kicked in .

If you really want to but a name brand i would suggest a trip to a dedicated hobby store – not a toy store and you can usually findt them advertising in the local RC car magazines .

Can I suggest a Tamiya DT-03, its relatively simple to make, with a simple 540 motor and speed controller you can really have some fun.

                  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-Neo-Fighter-Buggy-DT-03-58587-Kit/202146068647

Thats the cheapest I found it on eBay, its also the seller I used and it was very reasonable even though it came from Germany.

You'll still need a 2 channel radio (using a modern 2.5ghz system is very reasonable cost and the range is excellent), a battery and charger, and probably a servo for the steering. If you are careful you can do all this for £100 at a guess.

Problem is, then the modifications start….
