      Good day all,

I am having trouble with my Canon printer in that it will not feed the paper into itself. The paper gets as far as the rollers but they don't seem to pick it up.

Any ideas how to correct this or even how to get access to these rollers ? I don't want to butcher the machine, trying to "fix" it.

I,m sure some of you have come across this before ,so I would welcome your advice.

      Thank you in advance.

It would help to get an answer if you would state the model number.

Whichever printer, look on T'internet for model type stripdown. Chances are, rollers have a polished appearance. Clean with spirits to give matt surface and reassemble.

            Regards Ian

Might be an idea to wear surgical type gloves, waste ink a bit like "Ingineers blue", damn stuff get all over.

Sorry, I should have given the model number, which is MG3250.

Larry, after a while, the rubber rollers, or pickup quadrant gets glazed over and looses friction.

You could try cleaning with IPA, but don't overdo it as that in itself can dry out the rollers and cause future problems.
There are proprietary cleaners and rubber rejuvenators on the market specifically designed for the job.

I use Electrolube Rubber Roller Restorer on a lint free cloth
A little goes a long way, and one tin should last you a lifetime.

Try using a heavier weight paper. I had to go to 80 from 70gm when the transport system stopped picking up the paper consistently.

Best to strip it down if you can figure out how. Then remove the glaze with 400 wet and dry. Then all you've got to do is figure out where that spare spring came from!

Make sure there is no foreign object in the paper feed. Took a printer to the repair shop for while you wait repair only for him to find a playing card one of the ankle biters had posted.

Yes indeed, I would strip it down if I could work out how to do it.

I shall have a strong drink [maybe two ] and then attack it again.

In the meantime, thank you all for your assistance.cheeky

You can't just squint down the paper entry path with a flashlight and have a look?

Strong drink and helpful advice seem to have helped to some extent, since my printer has now performed a little better.

I,m not sure if this approach would work in all cases of machine failure, but it,s worth a try !

                            Cheers !!!

Did you recently buy new paper, or is it stored somewhere cold? Slightly damp paper doesn't load well.

I also agree with HOWARDT about the weight of paper. At multiple worklaces, I have had problems with industrial sized printer/copiers that objected to 70g paper (or cheap 80g) the buying departmens tried to foist on us. If you check with calipers, full weight 80g paper is close to 0.1mm thick.
