Nice tip Eric, have used very low pressure from my air line to do same.

I use a vac, a Hoover aquamaster oldie from the 1990s (remember that hoover free flights scandal?). It sits beside my lathe and sooks out the blind holes and t-slots

You can still get the cloth filters from a well known auction site, simply batter it on a wall at clean out time to remove the tiny bits

Always have a tub of cotton buds and a pile of pipe cleaners at hand, along with a set of cheap toothbrushes.

pick up a few wooden coffee stirrers from Costa (Other outlets also have them). They make ideal Araldite and Humbrol stirrers etc.

People think I'm pigging the cheese and pineapple at buffets, it just so I can collect the cocktail sticks.

Neil, you really need to change tactics and drink more cocktails to collect the stickscocktail

Keep a small first aid box in the workshop, masking tape for elastoplast, small clean magnet for removing steel splinters from sensitive parts, surgical tweezers for gripping small parts – like 12 BA screws, antacid tablets and a bottle of New Skin.

Roll of (soft) toilet paper kept next to the lathe or other machine. Use like mini kitchen roll to wipe off oil, swarf,, blood etc.

I have a lamp with a circular fluorescent tube and magnifying lens on double joint arm mounted to the workbench.
The shade has a small magnet to which I have added a sewing needle for digging small milling splinters out of fingers. So, needle to operate, strong light to see and powerful magnifyer to locate tiny source of pain.

Get a pair of forceps with sharp points. Work them on a stone to get the edges REALLY sharp. You can use them to dig out the splinters or grab them.

cut down some rolls off lining paper.

then use toilet roll holder screwed to wall to hold it.

always got scribble paper to hand for notes or quick drawings.

A discarded roof slate screwed to the wall of the shed over the lathe and a bit of chalk for jotting numbers and reminders. I live on aprox 12 billion tons of chalk so no shortage.
