It's worth massively more than that £250 for everything as a "job lot". Well over £1000.

You could spilt the items, guide prices (off the top of my head):

Lathe with 3-jaw and change gears = £350-£400 (you see some pristine lathes – they can go for £600 easily)

Milling attachment = £300

4 jaw chuck = £80

Milling table £50

Milling vice = £50-£75

Collet chuck and collets = £150-£200

Steadies = £50-£100

Just list the items separately on the well known auction site. Start everything at £1 and you'll get a fair, current price for everything as Emco items are extremely popular.

EDIT: If going down the eBay route – clean everything up best you can, take lots of photos and wait for their frequent £1 max selling fee promotions. Obviously these promotions limit the final value fees to £1, which makes a huge difference when selling items of fairly high value.

There is Quite a nice Compact 5 that comes only with 3 jaw chuck, live center, 2 dead centers, top slide & chip trays on the popular auction site in Europe. They want £813 + £68 Shipping & this seller has no trouble selling a number of Compact 5 lathes as he sells mainly used Emco's.

I've been selling on ebay for many years, mostly electronic test equipment. I used to start everthing at 99p but things have changed. It used to be an auction site but is now more of a marketplace. Starting low is now too much of a risk as many buyers don't know how to bid these days. I'd start at 25-50% of the prices suggested here. If you are prepared to ship it (look at pallet services, about £50 for mainland UK) you will open up a much bigger market and get a better price.

I don't know what your experience with ebay is, but I've had a good success rate with ebay so I'll throw in my two penn'orth. I always wait for the £1 max fees, they are very frequent. I always put the starting price to what I would be satisfied to achieve, and if there are bids above that….good news. I would never start with 99P without reserve, and if you put a reserve you'll be inundated with people asking what it is. I don't end an auction early either, I hate it when someone does it to me. Don't be put off by stating your payment requirements and avoid the rip off fee Paypal, you don't have to accept it.

With engineering stuff and models you will get hundreds of views and large numbers of watchers, but sometimes no buyer. Never mind, just list again when the offer comes round, unless you're in a hurry.

If you go down the ebay local pickup route never ever ever accept a payment through paypal because you cant prove the buyer took the item according to ebay rules, so they get your lathe and their money back as well.
