Myford Super 7 Mk1 Leadscrew help

Hi Just

I am on the last legs of a full restoration on my Myford super 7 Mk1 (see my photos in my profile)

One of the last things I will be doing is fitting the leadscrew,

(I have a myford super 7 Mk1 with screw cutting gear box )

I have use of an other lathe (colchester bantam 1600) and was thinking of buying a acme all thread and machining the ends my self.

being a Mk1, the leadscrew does not go all the way through the gearbox.

so my question is, what is the thred, pitch etc ill need and where should/could I buy it from

Piers, try this link, not sure where you are but somwhere in my "stores" I have a Myford lead screw but for a much later machine than yours. Pm me if you cannot get fixed up with te link John

Standard pitch for the Myford is 8 tpi. I think the diameter is 0.75". Acme thread form. I assume that you have not converted the machine to metric – if you have then you could improve on Myfrod's "metric" conversion by having a 3mm pitch leadscrew rather than 3.175.. mm!

No, not metric

most of the intended work is going to be imperial
