32TPI – 0.1330 thread repair

I have a carburettor with a stripped bolt hole someone told me the thread was 4-40 UNC so i bought a recoil kit but the tread is wrong the bolt is 3.38mm or 0.1330" and is 32TPI would anyone know what size recoil kit i would need please i have emailed the maker of the carb with no joy.

32tpi narrows it down. Are you sure the diameter is 0.1330? 6-32 UNC is 0.1380 diameter, and is the only thread I can find that comes near your measurements.

just measured a #6-32 and that OD is 3.38mm

Maybe the theoretical diameter is .138" but the bolt is bound to be under that, .133" is not a problem. Others I'm sure know where to get the helicoil kit.

Finding a supplier of the correct helicoil kit won't be an issue, ascertaining for absolute certainty (so Bob doesn't order a second wrong kit) which helicoil kit is required is the first priority.

I thought we had already done that? Anyway to be certain buy a 6-32 nut & try the existing bolt in it.

No we haven't, because Bob hasn't confirmed he definitely has 6-32 UNC

This might not apply but it's not a metric thread is it .

What carb is it and year?

I did a stripped speedway injector part some years ago it was a metric unit and in this case a 40tpi ME was only slightly smaller than the original metric stripped part.

For this I made an insert and lock tightened it.
