If you want to fit a DRO to it then you will have no option but to do so to some degree. – Even Myford owners have been known at times to do it to the cast iron version of their perceived crown jewels.

I had to drill and tap 'oles' in my Boxford to fit a DRO. It was brave and did not cry, wimper or complain even once.

I can recommend the kits sold by Machine-DRO. But be aware that the 'kits' from any source will need some form of adapting to some extent to suit most machines. They are not an unpack it, bolt it on and half an hour later you are ready to go solution. It took me a full day to fit them to both my lathe and millings machine.

I would advise the fitting of a smaller profile scale to the cross side due to the Boxford being such a small machine. If you don't you will start eating into the already limited capacity.

Oh. …………. And Boxfords ain't precious.! They are a machine tool and not an irreplaceable vintage Bentley or part of the Battle of Britain flight.

You could of course try holding the scales and reading heads on with 'Blu-tac'
