        Morning all,

In need of some advice if possible, a set of M&W hole bore gauges have come my way, the sort with the 2 steel ball bearings in the end.

Have had little use, but due do this have seized up.
My first thought was to let them soak in paraffin for a few days,

wondered what your thoughts where ?

If the plus gas soak does not free them try a gentle heat with a heat gun. Not to warm though there are springs in there.

              Thanks both,

do you think is would be worth trying to take them apart and adding some light oil once they are free or best leave well alone ?

Hello Roy, not sure if it has one, plan is I think to get some plus gas and let then soak.

Hello Roy, in a previous incarnation as a calibration engineer it was not unheard of for some brute to have screwed the thimble in too far and causing the balls to stick in the holes. They need pushing back in if this has happened.
