      Hi all,

This weeks oddity from a tool lot:

      oddtool 1.jpg

      oddtool 2.jpg

      oddtool 3.jpg

Seem very well made and has been hardened and ground. Perhaps not a tool but a part of something? Any thoughts please?

      Cheers, Martin

looks like item off something… ratchet, release mechanism, foot operated lever off a brake press of some type, over speed trip mechanism from a turbine… to guess a few ?

The long arm is reminiscent of an iron for holding down a (wood) plane blade, possibly pivoted around the hole and tensioned by a jacking screw under the short arm. Nothing like it in Salaman though.

"Ratchet" stop with handle for engaging / disengaging from toothed gear. Very large clock??

                      Hi All,

I think I get the general gist here laugh

Clearly I have not found a hitherto unknown masterpiece of English planemaking by NORRIS. frown

I have to ask as sometimes the unkown to me is blindingly obvious to someone on here and the item now destined for the scrap box may have been of use to someone and thus possibly of some value.

This may be a good time to ask if it really is OK for me to post like this or do people feel that I am wasting time and bandwidth. I fully own up to the fact that I buy and sell items and am therefore guilty using this forums knowledge resource to further my own interests at times.

If it is felt generally that this is not on please let me know.

I do read the build threads on here voraciously and glean all I can to improve my own machining skills which I enjoy immensley.

                      Cheers all, Martin

I for one think it is quite interesting to see some of your finds. Amazing what people throw out in boxes!

As to the item above I would go for a machine part, some kind of trip mechanism where a cam runs on the end of the longer arm. Almost like a bit of a Corliss engine valve gear.

Maybe it's a fancy scraper cheeky

To me it looks almost like a foot pedal though it's too small the large flat been a stop under floor level. The opposite flat acting the master cylinder. The fancy shaped bit at the top to hold the rubber pedal.
