Workshop Clearance with various model Traction Engines. not Mamod but larger scales.

Can anyone recommend a clearance company that would be interested in clearing out a deceased model engineers workshop based in Redditch, Worcestershire. I have not seen it myself but it includes 3 larger scale traction engines and all the machinery and tools used to make them.

His wife is not interested in splitting them but would like them gone in one collection, if that’s even possible I don’t know.

      Thanks

      Dave D.

You will get peanuts if a dealer takes it ! When you say “larger scale traction engines” what are we talking ? 2″ or 3″ or even 4/4.5″ Noel.

The family might not be interested in the money if the widow wants the lot gone in one go.

Three workshop / model clearance dealers who advertise regularly in the magazine are:

          Mike Bidwell,

          webuyanyworkshop-dot-com,

and a chap who simply calls himself Kevin.

Companies like Model Engineers Emporium would probably do it but, as Noel has stated above they will only pay peanuts.

Station Road Steam perhaps? I would expect a fair (dealer) price from them for the engines, they don’t do clearance as such but sometimes advertise workshop machinery acquired as part of a dispersal sale so worth asking.

Edit, and please report back, this question gets asked regularly, is the advice offered actually useful?

Hi, having spoken to Adrian at the Engineers Emporium, I believe they would give a fair price, considering their costs for removal and selling stuff on.

                Regards Nick.

Is there scope for a kind of “virtual team” of MEs here to help in this alas regular situations?  Perhaps the SMEE could be a focus.  Basically a member that was local to a particular workshop could go to view thee items, catalogue the major machine tools and models, and after discussion with other team members help with listing etc.

For the models I would suggest Mathewsons auctions. They seem to sell steam items fairly reguarly. From a few yers ago https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-115—steam-traction-engine-1-12-inch-scale/?lot=5718&sd=1

                      Robert.

In this case and most cases I would think, the bereaved wife just wants all the stuff gone so they can move on and also in this case sell the property.

The thought of trying to separate all the Models from the machinery and tools etc is not a option, they would just like someone to turn up and remove everything even if it isn’t the best way to get the most value from all the stuff, it’s the ease of getting rid of everything in one easy step that matters.
