Thanks – only thing it says is that a no.2 will be adequate on even a big 5" gauge loco – but its tiny! Ive opted for a no.4, is this a mistake?

              Nigel,

Two 11 ounce injectors will be fine. You'll only need one most of the time, the second one for when you let things get out of hand. Your No 4, 25ounce, will fill the boiler too fast, kill your steam and it'll be on and off like a ………. One problem you will have though is that being a tank engine the water will get hot and the injectors won't like that. You will need a water tank on your driving car or you could build a wagon to use as a water and coal carrier.

My Adams tank runs fine on two 11 ounce injectors. It usually does one lap of our track with the injector on and one with it off. It draws it's water from the bunker tank, but I can top up from my driving car when running on ground level railway. When its got a good load behind it (say approaching half a ton) one injector is on for long periods, but I rarely have to start the second one.

              Good luck

Thanks – going to see if I can get the hang of one 11oz injector working for starters. I hear a lot of scare stories about water and steam flow restrictions, so is it worth going bigger on these feed pipe bores?

                  Nigel,

Use 5/32" od for steam, 3/16 for water and feed. Smooth bends – no elbows on the feed side in particular. A plug cock for the water valve rather than a screw down valve (too restricting) and make sure the water feed has no air leaks. And you need a large area fine filter at the water draw off point.
