Weird electric actuator action

So I have 2 electric actuators and they dont just push and pull when supplied with power, they spin as well when fully extended and fully retracted.

Why?

What is the purpose of this? Is it possible to make them just push and pull?

How much do they spin? Just a short one or part rotation or spin like a top? Do they ‘unspin’ then retract or just go back then spin at the end?

It’s because the rod is not constrained or only constrained in the middle of travel. Just stop it turning.
If it turning with a lot of force it’s over-running the limit switches or needs external limit switches.
