VFD braking?

I've had a quick look and the decel on 1-10 is set to 5.0 and on 1-12 it's set to 10.0. I can't seem to change the settings though, once I get to the actual set value pressing any button just yields Err.

Obviously doing something wrong!?

Vic, I suppose it is always possible that since the VFD was factory fitted to your wood turning lathe, the factory has also set a password (pg 5-19) to stop you playing with the setup

Hi Vic,

Most of the VFDs I've come across use a parameter to control whether or not certain other parameters can be altered. A quick look through the manual suggests that parms 0-07 and 0-08 provide this function. I'd experiment with these to see if they have any effect.

Vic, from my time of wood turning I'd be wary of any form of braking on a wood lathe, specially if you are bowl turning, too quick stopping, and your bowl might become more like a flying saucer. No problem if you are spindle turning, but the average lathe pulls up fairly quickly, no flywheel effect of large diameter work.

Vic, I gave up on wood turning as a regular thing about 25yrs ago, but one line I was doing was Mahogany salad bowls, I used the method of gluing the bowl to a block of wood, with paper in between, and I never had a problem, but I would not have liked a sudden stop, specially while there was a fair bit of wood in the bowl. Smaller boxes, and bowls no trouble.

My wood lathe is still on it's bench, but only fired up to make file handles and the like.
