Does the table on an M1 mill, power drive in both directions ? If not do you have to rewind the table at each cut ?????

Forgive me for asking what is likely very obvious, but how else would you get the table back to the pre-cutting position (other than by winding manually) if the power feed only operated in one direction and how would you avoid climb milling if the machine only power-feeds in one direction?

Hi Peter,

Assuming your Mill does not have the S Type head with independent motor then X axis power drive is right to left only

With S Type head and VFD to main drive the X axis can be reversed as well as normal left to right travel

Andy thanks for your reply, my mill does have the "S" type head. I will ensure that the main motor is driven by an inverter that I can drive backwards and forwards. "not done it yet" but will in the near future.
