This is another call for information and help please.

I am looking for a kind soul who can provide me with decent quality pictures of the METRIC gearbox fitted to these lathes, along with a picture of the information plate on the pitches it can generate. I believe the lead screw pitch is 4 mm but I would like confirmation of that as well.

This is all in aid of the book I am compiling on lathe gearboxes and thus far this particular beast has eluded me so help would be greatly appreciated.

Please send directly to my email address wood_y (at) btinternet (dot) com which is all lower case, no gaps, with an underscore between the d and y

          Brian,

Yet again we might be able to help. At Epping Forest Horology Club we have a S&B model 'A'….it's the later type as I remember, with no 'lip' around the stand. I think there is some documentation in our filing cabinet as well.

You can see our Model 'A' on our website; http://www.efhc.org.uk/

…..go to 'gallery' and click 'machine shop pics'….it's pic no.5

I will have a look and shoot some pix on Monday afternoon and send to your email if it will help(?)

……….By "METRIC" do you mean that there is also an imperial gearbox?

            Hi Brian

My manual definately states 4mm pitch for the metric machine. all the other information I have is for the imperial one, metric threads being cut with the aid of a 127 tooth changewheel.

              Hello Bob and Trevor,

Thank you both for responding, I have replied directly to Bob and very helpfully Trevor has confirmed what I though was the case for the lead screw pitch. I have already been sent the gearing tables and useful pictures for the imperial version of the lathe.

              Thank you both

              Brian
