Small oscillating engine

Here's my first scratch-built steam engine – a small single-acting oscillating engine based on the design from Steve's Workshop. This was all scrap metal – even the base which was cast from some aluminium drainpipe. It runs nicely on air. I suppose I'll have to make a small boiler now!

Thanks all. I've still got a couple of finishing jobs to do, but I'm pleased it worked! I've bought a Stuart ST oscillator to have a go at next.

There are also good(ish) hand held air compressors you can test your creations with up to 100psi

Until you build a boiler, use an electric steam cleaner as shown in the post for my little marine engine. **LINK**
