Depending on how accurately you've measured the diameter of the thread, you might find it's actually 7/8in BSP which is 14tpi with a major diameter of 1.1890 in.
Have you looked on the lathes.co.uk website, Tony Griffirths does give some spindle nose thread info on there.
The BSP size could make sense for a home made lathe as fittings such as flanges and unions would be readily available for adapting to make chuck backplates and adaptors.
One of the problems is that there are very few "standard" lathe nose threads, most manufacturers did their own thing so it's only popular makes such as Myford and Boxford that you can get easily through tooling outlets.
