Hi. Can anyone help. I am trying to correctly locate the many mounting holes on my 3 1/2 inch Columbia. The drawings are next to useless giving measurements that to me bear little in common with pictures of the locomotive model.

so far I have cut out the safety valve holes and any others on the centre line of the boiler. I used heavy mounting board card to start the template for the cladding. And now I am lost. The drawings show measurements for the mounting hold positions from the top of the boiler cladding, but if I draw them on the template it would make the  outside regulator control only an inch from the top of the boiler, so a total mismatch.

can anyone please explain how to get the holes in the right position. Thanks

The thickness of metal cladding + insulation cladding and 22/7 x the resultant increased diameter should enable you to work it out, however it will be easier to use Bernard’s suggestion over the wood cladding.
