Hi I'm having problems viewing the ME magazine on line,

I can log on ok, the problem comes when I want to open up an issue to read it I find that thing work very intermittently, some time it works all fine then if I want to view another volume it stops working, at other times things just won't open up when I click on the on line reader, I've tried changing machine PC to Mac but the problem persists on either machine.

I don't have any issues with any of my other internet activity so I'm assuming the problem is at the pocketmag end of the line:- are they just short of band width or whatever they call it.

Does any one else have similar issues

      A very frustrated

      (p****** off)

Seems to be running OK for me, just looked at 4 mags and all opened and loaded without problems. I opt for the Silverlight reader.

Working fine here in Firefox on a laptop running Linux Mint. No Silvernight needed or available.

I tried the Pocketmags Android app some time ago and couldn't get it to work.

              Russell.

Am I missing something? I was under the impression that PocketMags is an offline not online reader and keeps it's (highly encrypted) files locally. The installation I have certainly appears to be that way. So while you might have trouble downloading an issue due to problems at the PocketMags site, any problems in viewing an issue would be local to the user's machine.

No you can view them all from pocket mags and don't have to download them.

You mean, go to the PocketMags site and read them there? Yes, I believe you can but why would anyone want to do that? If you are going to access the Pocketmags version of the mag, it seems much more flexible to install the PocketMags reader (which will download the issues) and read the mag offline (anywhere if you happen to have a laptop, iPad or other portable machine).

Subscribers could always (and still can) read the mag online at the ME website, Pocketmags isn't necessary for that. The only reason it was introduced was in response to people that wanted to be able to read it offline and on-the-go. Moreover by using PocketMags (and downloading to your local machine) you retain access to your subscription copies after the subscription has expired if you don't renew,

Maybe those on paper plus just want to keep there hard disc uncluttered with magazines and will always have a hard (paper) copy to refer to. The Pocket Mags viewer does have a few better features than teh ME one like the thumbnails so you can find the page you want without going through the whole mag.

It also suits those that may want to buy a single magazine for one particular item, they can print that off from the PM site. Can't do that from MTM if its out of stock or unless you want  a years subscription to get archive access.

Maybe you should take out a subscription and actually see how they both work

Jason, I don't want to belabour this too much, but I'm not arguing against Pocketmags per se – just questioning the use of it as an online reader. I use it myself, including buying odd issues (but I read them offline).

And I already had a digital subscription (and hard-copy before that) for years – I just recently lapsed them. While the subscription was extant, I rarely used PM – I found the ME online reader much easier to use (and easier to go to a specific page because you can tell it to "go to page …" ) but that's probably a matter of personal style. However, if you want to print a page there is no contest. You get a much better quality print from the ME reader than from PM (which also adds an intrusive watermark).

PM has been useful though (to read my back issues) since my subscription lapsed.

Interesting, Jason …. I actually got an email copy of your 16:48:43 post before you edited it. I didn't think that was supposed to happen. There is a limited time to edit a post and I'd always assumed that emails were sent after the cutoff to avoid confusion.

Moderators can edit any post at any time, as you can see by the footnote on the post I edited it at 17.00, took a few miniutes to do a subscriber look up and a few other things I was doing.

Though looks like you got the e-mail10 seconds before I submitted the original post

When are pocketmags going to get the silverlight quality display with windows 10?
