I need to remove the cross slide feed screw (to fit needle roller thrust bearings etc) from my power cross feed fitted S7 lathe. Has anyone done this before ? Any hints and/or tips particularly with respect to getting the screw back and aligned with key on the power feed gear would be most appreciated.

See page 34 of the official Myford Super 7 handbook or for an easier method page 281 of George Thomas's book Model Engineer's Workshop Manual.

As Lambton says Thomas's method is very easy. But you can remove the handle and bracket on their own and leave the screw in place, I think? I'd check on mine but it has been converted for CNC with a new bracket and ballscrew.
