Hi guys I am about to pick up a MIT-A-MIT Shaper Early version of the USA Perfecto according to Tony.

You can see photos of one here:**LINK**

The one I am getting has been converted to a power hacksaw, why anyone would do this I don't know. My intention is to restore it back to a working shaper. So I need to make up the ram, clapperbox and slide. and the cam arm.

I was wondering if anyone out there has a similar one that can help me out with some dimensions to work from?

Quoting from the lathes.co.uk page that you linked:

"The stroke length is not known – but was probably around 7 inches."

… This suggests that they are not exactly common !

            Good luck in your quest.

Edit: … I see that you are getting a rather better response, here.

Only just seen this. I have a Perfecto powered shaper – BUT …It was put into storage with whatever else I could recover from the house and workshop wreckage 20 months, or so, ago! It remains there with the rebuild still in progress but might be possible to get at it for measurements if absolutely essential.

                Hi Guys,

I have been drawing it up in solid works based on generic shaper design, but hoping to get some specific details to how the original was made and correct dimensions. I'll then modify the drawings to suit.

The gears and ratchet are also missing off the auto feed and I have no idea how this works or looks like as all the photos I have seen this has a cover over it.

Jack I'd love some photos and details/measurements of yours should you get access, if not don't stress over it.

Yep a bit of a discussion going on over there but only guess work at this stage until I find someone who has one.
