Is it possible to buy styrene tubes (c.10mm diam) that ONLY JUST fit inside each other ?

Hello

I need to build a piston out of HIPS/solid styrene (or ABS).

It needs to be about 1cm in external diameter (+/- 2mm).
It it possible to buy styrene in tubes that only just fit inside each other?

(Yes, before you say it, I know all too well that what I need is a lathe or much better a 3D printer, but I cant afford the money & space for either at present!)

To get clear ideally I need about 6cm of styrene tubing that is 10mm external diameter, with walls say 1mm thick. And then a tub that fits inside that is 8mm external diameter. A pretty tight fit would be helpful – which I could then sand down slightly to get just the right fit…

Raboesch make styrene tubes all the way up to 18mm i.d. / 20mm o.d. John. In my experience they are pretty accurate on dimensions, but you will probably only find the larger diameters in 1m lengths.

Not that easy to find, try your local model boat shop as they also make propellers. If not you could mail order from Cornwall Model Boats, but postage might be expensive in proportion to the cost of the parts due to the length.
