      Hi,

I am based in the UK and was wondering if anyone had any tips on sellers/ merchants that sell inexpensive yet reliable End Mill Cutters. I use '2 flute' 'TIAN coated' cutters but haven't been able to find anything cheaper than about £8 – £10 per unit.

Does anyone know of anywhere good to buy Mill Cutters more cost effectively as it just seems I might be paying too much.

Happy to buy in bulk if necessary.

      All advice greatly appreciated.

      Thanks.

      Eddie.

What sizes, and materials do you cut? Why are you using a lot? Could you re-sharpen them? Would it be worth getting an EMG12 or making a grinding jig?

              EMG 12? That's cost effective?

Well if you are using a lot of cutters then its very cost effective only need to sharpen 80 times and its paid for itself.

When I had one for review I did 40 cutters so at Eddies£ 8-10 a pop I got £450 back in a couple of hours.

EMG 12 only grinds the end of the cutting flutes, so flutes will not be restored to new cutting condition, Eddie has said he uses a lot which I take it to mean he's cutting the max DOC with the flutes doing the work, not just plunge cutting.

Are you sure that 2 flute are the best to use. I find that with the relatively low rigidity of amateur machines that 3 & 4 flute cut better and last longer for most work.

When I use 6mm 2 flute cutters in my CNC router, I generally use a max DOC of 3mm, very rarely using the max of 19mm. The Chinese ones are sometimes a bit stingy on overall length and the secondary clearance is not that good. But it all depends on what type of material and machine is being used.
