My Dad was into his steam engines and was part way through building a couple when he past away earlier this year.
I know that he was a member on this forum and so thought this may be the best place for me to ask for some advice.
I’m looking to clear his workshop and I’m wondering if I can upload some pictures of the larger equipment on this forum, and if it would be possible for anyone to assist in identifying the items and there worth so we don’t get ripped off when we come to the daunting task of sell them all.
Also is it possible to sell them on this forum, or put up links to them on an auction website if not?

      Kind regards
      Lee

Sorry to hear about your dad passing Lee but none of us engineers is as durable as our machines. He will now be part of their history.
If you look at the bottom right of the page there is a 'for sale' section. We can identify machines and other bits for you and the most appropriate description if you sell them elsewhere. Do you know of a Model Engineering club nearby, perhaps that he was a member of as that is often a help in identification of parts and most of all what parts go with what.

            Thanks for your reply Bazyle.
I think he was a member at Sale Area Model Engineering Society.
We are going to keep his favourite steam engine and possibly give this club first refusal on the others he had and the two he was building.

I have uploaded the images of some of his larger pieces of equipment into albums on here.

No 4 is an Adept Model 2 motorised shaping machine.

The Myford Super Seven has a quick change tool post (QCTP) which is a desirable addition and note the detachable part of this that holds the tools. Each of these is worth about £10 and should be counted and included includedwith the machine. It may also have a long cross slide which is a good thing (someone to confirm?). Note the chuck has 3 jaws.  There should be 3 similar jaws nearby perhaps on the bench or in a drawer or box which are important to keep with it. There will probably be other bits that fit this machine I expect including a 4 jaw chuck, a tailstock drill chuck, a travelling steady and a fixed steady. These parts belong with the machine as a package. Other bits can be sold separately.
The item by the tailstock of this lathe looks to be a Coventry Die Head. Not part of the lathe. Another picture please. There may be some more interchangeable little flat bits with teeth in sets of three that fit this.

                    Machine 3 is a Myford ML 7,

Machine 8 is an early Myford Super 7 with the early clutch, item at tailstock end is a Coventry Die Head,

Die Head Chasers (little bits with teeth) come in sets or FOUR for each thread size.

                      Thanks Kwil.

Lee, I suggest you go round everything that looks like shiny metal with a paintbrush and paint it with oil, just ordinary engine oil maybe thinned a little with white spirit. Not WD40 though as despite its convenience in a spray can it isn't so good for preventing rust as it needs redoing every month.

Nice lot of well loved machinery, brings a tear to the eye.

                        I'm filling up, sniff.

The machine 2 portass is seen here. Looks like its a nice lathe too.

The Adept shaper might be quite expensive. The hand powered ones regularly make £200-300 on ebay.
