                Hi Emgee,

                Thanks for your message.

Its just a matter of company policy. ARC prefers to keep the print copy as print format only, rather than offer or promote any pdf version. Please accept our apologies.

I'm hoping the new catalogue will include stub drills.

That used to be John Stevenson's standard request ….. but unfortunately, no.

No chance of left hand, slow spiral, stub drills then? Can't find anybody that sells them. sad

Is there a downloadable PDF the catalogue somewhere? (Less hassle than ordering a print version with postage).

If you read above Vidar there is no PDF version and the paper copy is hardly hassle, just follow Ketans link in his opening post, go to checkout and thats it, simple, plus there is no postage charge (well not in the UK).

Ah, I just didn't read through the entire thread I just read the top and followed the link.

Now, I will argue that it is a hassle: I'm not in the UK, so there will be a postage charge. That again means I'll have to bring out my credit card and my bank safety widget to authorize the payment. And then wait some 7 to 14 days or thereabouts for it to arrive. That is a lot more hassle then pressing once on a link to a PDF and getting it in seconds.

Having spent a fair bit of money at ARC the last 10-15 years it might even be a good idea to just send it to old customers if paper is the only way? Not to put ARC on the spot – suppliers sending out catalogues seems to be on the decline in general. (At the other extreme the Hoffman group sends me a 4 volume hardbound catalogue of biblical plus proportions each year. Just the postage could likely buy me a better meal not to mention the printing costs).

I thought the name Vidar to be unusual, so googled it and found as follows :-

Vidar – Norse Mythology for Smart People

                                    Bill

It is kind of unfair. Thor got a weekday, movies and TV series named after him, while poor Vidar just got me and few other mere mortals. wink

Everything that is is the catalogue is on the website so you can just click on each section and browse there, probably a lot more info on the website than can be fitted into the cat anyway.

Well, everyone can do that so if it was an equal alternative there wouldn't really be a reason to have a catalogue in the first place? I somehow imagine the bliss of an organized catalogue tickling my impulse buying senses by showcasing items I wouldn't necessarily think of or click to find in a concious way on website…

Anyway, I was just aiming to ask if there was a PDF of the catalogue. I conclude there isn't, and thus I will just go on with life as it were before I stumbled across this thread.

Edit: Seems I just can't type today.

Yes, but who would have thought longships were fitted with technology for detecting other ships at a distance and a navigating in fog?

Andrew: Ron possibly/hopefully gave you a good link

Vidar: All I can do is apologise. Original plan was to send the catalogues out with all subscribers of MEW including overseas, but the people involved in overseas subscriptions were unable to accommodate on this occasion. In a way, it was a good thing, because costs to send out with MEW to U.K. subscribers and retail outlets have increased heavily since we last did this exercise in late 2016. We did consider sending the catalogue out to overseas customers ourselves, but at present we are unable to get the right deal which we seek with Royal Mail/fulfilment centres, so we are having to charge for handling and postage. If it helps, we are happy to send a catalogue out to you with your next order. You can order it with any other items you order.

Sadly not. I use Drill Service a lot, and they do LH stub drills and RH slow spiral stub drills, but not LH slow spiral stub drills.
