Any idea what this is?

Got my new magnetic stand, and the clamp came with a dovetail and two mounting holes (6mm and 8mm) but the 8mm hole came with a peg installed and I am curious what it is for (before I lose it!)

The supplier didn't seem to know, think the make is Soba

I attach a photo with the mysterious peg sat on top of the clamp, it fits into the hole on the left…

Hi Chris

Note this indicator has a clamp to fix to a rod as part of its body. ( It also comes with a variety of rods and clamps to get to difficult places)

I guess your attachment would enable it to fit directly to your stand.

For what its worth I use the plunger type more often and have made up a fitting to mount one premanently into a tool boat for my QCTP. This is especially useful for setting round work in the GripTru chuck or indeed a 4-jaw.

You will soon find what works for you
