**LINK** got a adcock and shipley milling mechine modle 1.A.J with a j type gear box

i have looked at it i think the fork in side the gear box is woren cos it not engaging the drive to put the table forwords and back and when you do there a crunching sound

dose any one know any sevice could help

There does not apear to be a photo of the 1AJ at that link.

Or information that it existed.

I used to use a 1EJ but that had a power auto cycle gearbox.

Can you post a photo?

I would think it would be easy to drop the gearbox off and find out what is not working before you call someone in. Might be something silly you could fix easily.

From the serial number of an Adcock and Shipley you should be able to work out the year and month of manufacture.

I can't remember how to do this but could probably work it out if you post the serial number.

(The year would help if you need spares.)

two photos one of the gear box sume of the parts are have been taken off to get the gear box off there just 4 bolts holding it on

Hi There

Looks like a simple drop off job.

It will be heavy so support it.

I think the gearbox will be self contained so you should be able to test it on the bench.
