      @rikshaw

      A week or so back my friend emailed me about this service being offered by the NHS to men of 65 or over. As there are a lot of us in here in that age group I thought it relevant.>>

      Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) scanning.>>

      I was surprised to hear of the service being offered and maybe you will be as well.>>

      I am being "done" in a couple of weeks, it takes 20 mins., its painless, and you get the result there and then.>>

                Btw used to make components for one of the company that makes the stents etc. Used to treat triple A..
                ..the detail in the ” tool” used to insert stents via an cut in the groin .up the branch. Left at the junction and on until you reach the effected area…all while the patient is awake and still needing to use that artery. ..

                    I had this a few years ago and, as Mick says, it is a one off test involving ( an attractive young lady!) coating your chest and abdomen with KY jelly and running an ultra sonic probe over it. Entirely painless and is a one off process – if you're OK then you're OK – and something else will get you in the end!

                    Maybe we are lucky down here but this, and other similar tests, flu injections etc. are offered automatically by our doctors surgery and we don't need to seek them out.

                    OK Roy I take the point that this is not a ME/MEW topic but it is certainly relevant to readers continuing to have the ability to persue the hobby! After all, with the length and complexity of some projects, longevity is essential!wink

                    Regards

                    Norman
