C/H pipe clamp query

Being a bit cheeky asking this here, but I’m not on any plumbers’ forums etc and to fair, the folk on here seem to know the answers to most things!

Essentially a central heating pipe clamp ( the one connecting to a wall) has broken, but this is an old system and I simply can’t find a replacement. Searched the web and even checked many AI results all with no success.

The problem is that most modern ones have a screw mounting behind the pipe. I can’t use those without major surgery to the pipework. The type I need has an offset screw position, and a flexible ‘strap’. Companies like Talon do several with these sort of straps, but again all seem to be centre mounting.

Anyone familiar with a source of these please? If push comes to shove I may end up fabricating something, but obviously easier if I can get one off the shelf. Many Thanks, Mike

Try searching for P clips. Maybe more often seen for wiring, but they are available for pipes / hoses.

You could just buy a double clamp there are plenty to choose from and put the pipe in one side, screw tends to go between the two pipes

Or a nail fixed one which can always be drilled out for a screw

Mike , In addition to searching for P clips , would also suggest mild steel swaddle clips and pipe strap clamps.

Just remembered , I got my rubber lined galvanised P clips from 12 volt Planet .

School board brackets have a diameter-correlated stand-off from the wall. They are meant for screwed pipe so a tee or elbow has room to rotate.

Noone has asked nor has the OP stated what the standoff of the existing bracket is, but a school board bracket’s own is larger than that of a Talon clip.

Many , many thanks to all of you that took time to reply. I had already looked at all the main sources like Screwfix/Toolstation Amazon/eBay hoping to find a direct replacement mainly because it’s in a really awkward position (as usual with these jobs!) and due to the very close proximity of another pipe and a radiator there’s very little room .

I’m thinking as some have suggested, it going to be a case of modifying one of the clips you have pointed me to.

Anyway, again, really appreciate all your efforts and suggestions. All the best Mike

I saw the same when I looked earlier today on my phone. Another possibility is to mount a centre screwed version on a plate that screws from the side.

What I would probably do in order to get a quick and satisfactory fix is as follows. Cut a T shape from aluminium or whatever comes to hand. Drill two holes for screwing the T to the wall either side of the pipe, with the tail of the T shaped to lie under and touching the pipe. Screw T in place to the wall, then secure the tail under and to the pipe with a hose clip (needs to be fully unscrewed and fitted round pipe). Position the hose clip worm drive boss between pipe and wall so that it is mainly hidden.

Adjust the dimensions and form as necessary. An easy and adaptable repair that can be bent to adjust in situ.
