I’ve been away from the forum for sometime, an occasional lurker only.

My main interest has always been classic motorcycles, and my workshop/machining activities have been in that connection, there is always something to do when you ride old bikes. My passion and enthusiasm has declined in recent years, I’m still interested and still have a bike but I’m leaning toward a model IC engine as a retirement project.

I’m drawn toward the Senior hit and miss casting kit from The Engineers Emporium , I like the size of it, not too small and fiddly. It’s described as easy to construct , I hope I have what it takes. If any members have made (making one) your thoughts and comments would be most welcome.

My facilities are fairly basic , garage workshop ,Myford big bore super 7 , Warco round column mill drill and GH Universal mill. Oh, and I have infinite patience .

      Good to be back.

      Adrian.

They are quite attractive engines, I’ve had a few images filed away for some time with a view to making one though probably one of the smaller size 1 engines. Quite straightforward to build with no need for a governor or fancy carb.

There are actually classed as tank cooled due to having a separate tank rather than an open hopper cast as part of the cylinder jacket as Eng Emp describe it. They will run for a while under no load without cooling but if you want to plumb them in then the bosses top and bottom of the jacket which are not drilled on teh Eng Emp photos just need tapping and a suitable tank made or found.

Welcome back Sir ! No longer able to kick over a 500cc single I gravitated to electric start 350. Good luck with the small IC engine. Noel.
