      Hi

      I have acquired a small,set of collects but have no idea what type they are. Anyone have an idea as usual google images searches have not been successful.

              I have Titanic MK1 and BSA milling chucks which use similar collets. There is a threaded disc, a sleeve with an internal taper and a nose ring with a flat internal face. The end mill goes into the collet, the collet goes into the sleeve and the disc goes on the end, this assembly goes into the chuck and the nose ring is screwed on. The endmill is adjusted until the collet just starts to lift and the nose ring is firmly tightened by hand. I still use them occasionally, they work well but the Clarkson chucks are a bit less fiddly.

                The confusing thing is the thick end is the back, unlike any other collet. they only work with Clarkson collets ie threaded.

                  Really ? … Now I am confused.

                  The link that I posted yesterday offers a range of holding sizes from 2.9mm to 20mm diameter.

                  Grateful if you could explain in more detail.

                    Almost certainly acramil. Try searching EBay for Bristol Erickson or Kennametal.
