          Hi James,

Welcome; I have had the WM 16 for about 5 years now & cannot complain as it has done what I have given it to do without complaining … too much. As always, you gets what you pays for, but so far I'm well satisfied with it. As far as fitting DRO's to it, look in my album…DRO … 8 pics showing how I fitted DRO's to my machine if they're of any help to you. If I can be of any help feel free to drop me a pm.

          George.

Welcome James, ask away on any subject, someone will have an answer. I get over to Ireland two or three times a year mainly to the North.

Welcome to the forum a James. 5" sounds a bit big for a WM16 but if you can get it on the table ok give it a try before you buy anything smaller.

                Hello James,

                Welcome to the forum.

Buy the next issue of MEW, number 257. With my amazing powers of prescience I can predict it will have a detailed article on fitting a DRO to all three axes of a Warco WM16 mill.

It's good to have another member from the other side of the Irish Sea. Whereabouts in Ireland do you live?

Take the vice off the swivel base and it should be OK as that saves height and weight

I have read a few comments about the wm16 mill and how the hi low gear can give trouble

I see Warco do a wm16B for £250 more.its belt drive and has a brushless motor would you think this would be a better purchase

                            Hi Jimmy,

Before I bought a WM18 on the basis that 'the heavier-the better' I had settled on the WM16B for the reasons you mention. Having said that, there are a lot of WM16 users on here with, as far as I can make out, few problems with the plastic gear stripping.
