I've just read the above article by Paul Tiney and enjoyed and was informed by it. Also, I had smiled three times and laughed out loud twice before I finished the first column!

Can we have more from Mr Tiney, please? I don't normally get my laughs from MEW, but discovered I really enjoyed this mix of information and humour.

      Regards,

      John.

I have not seen the article but am part way through fitting a modified 6" digital caliper to mine. House guests arriving have stopped play.

I'm glad you enjoyed it John.

The 'adjustable' nature of the idea is very handy too.

Like Chris evans, I tried drilling a cheap 6" Calliper for use as a tailstock readout. Took three sharpenings of a HSS drill for one hole. So bought a linear DRO, 'cos fitting that was so much easier. Right nuisance, tho' when changing the battery and the new one falls onto the floor!

Re his article i read somewhere this week the difference between a rule and a ruler

Does any one else know that a rule starts at the end of the blade and a ruler may have a short start before the markings start

I thought a ruler might possibly swing a blade in the form of a sword, I think a Royal nicked someone while doing that the other day.
