Groups.io registration

I used to subscribe to several Yahoo Groups and, with their demise, have received notifications that some have moved to Groups.io.

Finally got around to having a look on Groups.io but am struggling to set up an account, as I don't receive the confirmation e-mail. The e-mail address used to set up the account is correct & I don't have a "Junk" folder set up on Thunderbird, but the confirmation e-mail doesn't arrive despite several resends.

Anyone else having issues getting registered with Groups.io ?

I didn't have any problems, but do you have access to your email account via web mail.
The confirmation email may well have gone into your providers junk mail account, rather than your own local one.

I belong to the Synchronome1 group and can't recall any sign up issues.

If you were a member of any Yahoo Group and it was transferred to iO Groups by the group owner via the iO Groups method of transfer you will be a member of the group transferred.

If your email address has changed from that registered with Yahoo Groups you may not be receiving notifications from iO Groups, in that case I suggest you find your group name on the extensive list and go to the Join page, complete the details requested and you will be enrolled.

I agree with the above, no problems joining 4 io groups, although there is sometimes a delay in receiving an answer.

Sorted !

A bit convoluted, but I managed by changing the e-mail address associated with the account. This generated a change notification to the original account (which shows I entered this correctly initially) . Changing back to the original e-mail address, I then received the confirmation request & the account is set up.

I have found many of the groups I used to follow, just can't find one operated by (IIRC) a gentleman called JW Early which had a number of articles scanned and very well "cleaned up" from '40s and '50s copies of Model Engineer. I can't remember the group name, but it is possible that Mr Early is no longer with us to transfer the group.

Hi Nigel,

I think your post is correct that J W Early is not longer with us. IIRC his scans of ME had to be removed long before the demise of Yahoo groups.
