Are the dials metric or imperial as the pitch will depend of that.

I would have thought 3mm. Easy to measure or if you are looking at a lathe can you get a photo of the chart on the front of the machine then it should not be too hard to work out

If it is the same as the Chester DB-10G (Which I suspect it is.) then the thread chart could give you the wrong value for the actual pitch. The DB-110G has a 48 tooth gear driving a 60 tooth gear which is where you put the first gear you can change for the gearing to the leadscrew. So though the actual pitch of the leadscrew is 2mm the effective pitch whencalculating the gearing is 1.5mm. I would suggest say turning the leadscrew exactly 10 turns and measuring how far the saddle has moved. (For Matt the pitch will then be one tenth of the distance that the saddle has moved.)

Matt with the 40T driver fixed on the spindle you will need the corrected gear train that Journey man shows not that on the front plate.

So that is 40T on spindle driving a 30T on the first stud and a spacer (H) next to that

That 30T drives an 80T on the 2nd pin

Also on the 2nd pin is a 70T which drives a 60T on the lead screw.

Select A on the front lever to give 1:1 straight through the box.

Put a felt tip pen in the toolpost and run that down a bit of bar to check you are cutting correctly.

There is another gear train that would work which is what is printed on the metric 280 machines. These also have the fixed 40 T on the spindle and 3mm pitch leadscrew

40T drives 50T

50T drives 80T

70T drives 60T

Mick, how many teeth on the gear that is fixed to the spindle? and what age is your machine?

Correction to my post at 12:53 today (18th Aug.) The gear on the spindle is 45 teeth NOT 48 as I typed in my previous post.
